Cruises are one of my favorite ways of seeing the world. I like falling asleep and waking up in one country to another, do not need to compress and decompress. For frugal travelers, here are some tips to cut costs.
Consider all the embassies
When most people think of cruises, Caribbean Mediterrian think, and maybe Alaska. However, the name of the port and the ocean is likely to sail on a cruise. And some of these routes is not only discoveries, but a pleasant surprise. It’s still one of your favorite cruises.
Bring your own soft drinks
The food is usually included in the cruise price. However, drinking nothing but water, coffee, tea, iced tea, and if lucky enough to come from the extra cost. So what we do is to buy alcoholic beverages at ports (permits – Alcoholic beverages, often is a corking fee) and pour them glasses.
Make your tour
We were more than a dozen cruises throughout the world and have organized a boat trip (on our first cruise). They are expensive, proceed at the pace of the slowest traveler, and restrictive.
Great breakfast, late dinners
For the frugal traveler to maximize your time in port is a must. Also, we tend not to eat large meals (if at all). Instead, eat a hearty breakfast on board (where breakfast is free), snack bits and pieces of local food for the same land, and then the day with a meal in peace.
